bahai-believe in unity

I have had a very hard time with religion, not because of a faith issue, but because I have never found a religion I beleive whole-heartedly in and have been givin some shit for it. I found one that is pretty awesome in many respects. It's called Bahai and it teaches that descrimination is what causes human destruction and that unity is the answer.

I have heard of Bahai'i but never studied it extensively.

I have a sort of loose "crumb-snatcher" spirituality. I gank stuff from other religions and put it together my way.

Currently, I'm trying to learn more about Buddhism. Maybe Bahai'i should be next.

The Baha'is teach some wonderful things regarding justice,  the unity of mankind and religion and the've done a lot of wonderful things to make lives better in third world countries, but the sad truth is that they're very much anti-lgtb.

Baha'i is what I've settled on also.

While some of the adherents may be anti-LGBT, a basic tenet of the religion is that the adherents are expected to read the texts and decide for themselves what their feelings on the texts are.  So for me... i've yet to participate or "practice" with an organized group... but Im reading the texts and so much of it resonates with what I already believe and just makes sense.  I've discussed the LGBT thing in Baha'i facebook groups, to which some non-hetero folk have replied and stated that they're openly gay and haven't gotten any flack within the baha'i community for it.

i got my undergrad in religious studies and always felt like "yep, they're all pretty much the same."  love that there's an organized system that agrees with me and that encourages me to use my brain rather than following blindly.
