Are black lgbt people clique-ish?

Recommended Posts

I've seen a lot of posts online about how in even larger cities it is so hard to meet black lesbians, especially with an emphasis on the club scene.  This got me thinking, are we just clique-ish?

I love dancing, and have spent quite a lot of time at lesbian, lgbt, and mainstream clubs.  Looking back though, I realize that I usually go with a friend group that includes black women, amongst other races.  When I've moved to places where I didn't know people,  I'd usually meet 1 or 2 women or gay men and invite them over for dinners or parties and my network grew from there.  The majority of our interactions were private parties, house parties,  pageants, etc.

If that's what's limiting the community, we need to do better.  By we, I mean the elder dykes. Even though it is hard for me to think of myself as an elder.
